I am a Certified Jungian Analyst, located in Greenwich Village. I am interested in helping people find quality and depth in their relationship to themselves and others. As adults, fortunately, we are not victims of childhood. To the extent that we see ourselves that way our lives become compromised and limited by this narrow and false view of ourselves. Since we are more than our childhood experience, a too limited engagement of our potential often produces unpleasant symptoms such as depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, etc. Part of the psyche becomes like a caged animal struggling to break from confining attitudes that squelch our desires, passions, creativity and spontaneity. Childhood experience has, without a doubt, an effect on who we are but, what we are, that is, our authenticity, is always nascent and ready to be engaged. Symptoms are signs that tell us what is wrong and the corrective needed. Depression, for instance, draws us inward as if to say that we are too externally oriented and need to attend to what is going on inside. Our dreams, fantasies, and problems in every day life are communications which, when understood, can help guide us toward a more fulfilled and creative life. Usually, this process requires us to be willing to let go of old attitudes, ways of approaching life that may not be working. It can be difficult but transformation demands hard work and sacrifice and is ultimately what makes us feel fulfilled and sleep better…
