August Inn is located on Anderson Island in southern Puget Sound. The small, 18 square mile island offers a quick getaway from hectic metropolitan areas. After a short picturesque ferry ride from the historic town of Steilacoom, you will enter into a world of remote solitude. Ten minutes from the dock, August Inn awaits with a private beach while the majestic Mt. Rainier presides over all. Situated on one acre that slopes to 125 feet of waterfront, the panoramic view reaches north to the Tacoma Narrows and south to the Nisqually River Delta. Across the bay from the Inn is the untouched Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. From the deck, watch the wildlife and weather pass by as your work-a-day worries disappear. Watch a stunning sun or moon rise, or simply nap in total silence -- except for the soft lapping of waves against the beach. August Inn offers a unique retreat combining modern comfort in a casually elegant setting. Although this private island has very little commercial development, it includes two restaurants and a general store. The island is perfect for a quiet country walk, bicycle rides, or kayaking.
